RT-AX1800U is a dual-band wireless router with 2x2 antenna configuration. Using wide bandwidth (80 MHz) and 1024-QAM quadrature modulation, it is capable of delivering a total Wi-Fi network speed of 1800 Mbps: 547 Mbps in the 2.4GHz band and 1201 Mbps in the 5GHz band. Thus, this model is 1.5 times faster than dual-band 802.11ac routers with similar antenna configurations.

The revolutionary combination of OFDMA and MU-MIMO technologies in the 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard provides increased bandwidth and more efficient use of bandwidth for high utilization wireless networks. Under the previous version of Wi-Fi (802.11ac), each network channel could only be utilized one at a time by client devices. In contrast to this inefficient scheme, OFDMA technology, which is part of Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), offers the ability to divide each channel into smaller sub-channels, allowing signals from a large number of client devices to be combined and transmitted simultaneously, thereby reducing latency when communicating over a Wi-Fi network.

ASUS AiProtection technology, developed jointly with Trend Micro, is responsible for security from external attacks and confidential data safety in RT-AX1800U.
